My name is Paul Hallinan Miller, and for the past two and a half years, I’ve been in a battle, a defendant in a lawsuit, with a town that I love. In the discovery process, I had to hand over 5,000+ pages of discovery requested by the City of Ludlow attorney, and I worked with an astute team to widdle them down to a guidebook for asymmetrical development. I have spent over 15 years dedicated to creating a circus in Ludlow, KY, with determination and perhaps some co-dependency. Instead of a countersuit, I’ve worked on this book and a reality TV show, Circus Suites. There is no biz like show biz.
The next order of business was to remove the lead-based paint chips flaking from the ceiling. In this case, it actually worked to our advantage that the people of Ludlow are inquisitive. In general, they are also hard working and blue-collar. “What are you doing here?” Passers by asked. Before we knew it, a local guy, Daniel, with all the credentials to handle the lead-based paint removal and associated issues, was toiling away. With the roof issue solved and sealed and the ceiling painted, we could begin the fun part: circus programming.
